Ferry Rangers New Year’s Eve Charity Game

New Year’s Eve will see hostilities resume when the Ferry Rangers old stagers will dust off the boots and shin guards to play the new generation of players wearing the red and black of Ferry Rangers. This game will help mark the 30th anniversary of the club which began back in 1995.

The game will take place at Ferry Park at 2pm on New Years’ Eve. Both sides are in serious training I have been informed both on and off the bar stool since Christmas began. It will be a great way to kick off the new year celebrations that will follow later in the day.

This annual event has been running for a number of years and is very keenly contested, amazing to see how fast the competitive spirit kicks back in in particular for those who have been retired in the past number of years.

Both squads are full of top notch talent who are eager to show that they still have “it” whatever “it” is. It will be great to see some of the lads who were only youth players back when the club started get stuck in with the new generation who are playing in the Kerry District League at the current moment.

Rumour has it that a number of scouts will be in attendance on the day to the run the eye over some of the players, now whether in the case of the old stagers that is for the old folks home I just don’t know !!

So if you’re at a loose end and fancy watching two teams kicking lumps out of each other with the odd bit of football thrown in then head for Ferry Park at 2pm on Wednesday…

Keep an eye out for details through all of Ferry Rangers social media platforms as to who will benefit from monies collected on the day….
